ABE participants are 17 or older, not currently enrolled in High school, and functioning below the 12th grade level in any of the basic academic areas: reading, math, writing, and communication in English.
GED stands for General Education Development. The GED tests measure knowledge of science, social studies, math, reading, and writing. When all four GED tests are passed, the certification can be used in place of a high school diploma for applying to jobs or colleges. For more information, click here.
Volunteer to work alongside Adult Basic Education (ABE) teachers to assist adult learners who are trying to improve academic skills. Volunteers might help with content such as reading, writing, math, and GED preparation or in English acquisition. Roles are either as a classroom assistant or working directly one-to-one with a student. Literacy Minnesota provides core training and ongoing support. For information and/or to register click here!
