An ECFE Parent-Child Class Involves: Parent / Child Time: The class begins with parents and children working and playing together at learning centers for 30 - 45 minutes. The children’s classrooms and activities have been especially designed for young learners. Group Time: Families then join together for a group time of songs, games, and stories for about 10 - 15 minutes. Parent Discussion Time: During the last 30 - 45 minutes, parents are involved in a parent discussion time while their child remains in the children’s classroom with a licensed Early Childhood teacher. What’s Parent Discussion About? Discussion time is a chance for parents to talk to other parents and professionals about everyday questions that come up in any family. Bedtime concerns, first dental visits, holiday stresses, school readiness, discipline and community resources are a few of the topics discussed. Families come from every kind of lifestyle, the main thing they have in common is an interest in their children and parenting. Sibling Care: On-site child care will be available for siblings of children who are enrolled in an ECFE Parent-Child Class. All families are welcome. No individual or family who resides in District 879 will be turned away from participating in any ECFE parent/child class because of the inability to pay.
